National AgrAbility training workshop set in New York state

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The 2015 AgrAbility National Training Workshop will cover issues of disability in the agricultural industry and include tours of area farms and other attractions.

The conference will be April 13-16 at the Hyatt Regency Rochester in Rochester, New York.

Kylie Hendress, Purdue University engagement coordinator and the lead organizer of the workshop, said there are many reasons to participate in the training workshop.

“It is a great opportunity for rural professionals to get together with AgrAbility staff and AgrAbility clients and their families,” Hendress said. “Our breakout sessions and tours will give them a chance to learn from some great speakers on timely topics geared specifically toward farmers and ranchers and other topics concerning military veteran farmers.”

There will be a keynote address given by motivational speaker Chris Koch, who was born with no arms or legs but works on his family’s farm in Alberta, Canada.

There will be tours of local dairies, wineries and alpaca farms as well as an optional guided tour of Niagara Falls.

Hotel reservations are given at a conference rate of $105. Reservations at this cost ends March 19.  Overall registration for the workshop closes April 10. There will be no on-site registration. For more information about the event, to register, or to reserve a room participants can visit
